Senior DOE Officials in Philadelphia for National Governor’s Association Centennial Meeting
 
WASHINGTON – On Sunday, July 13, 2008, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Alexander “Andy” Karsner and Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy James “Jim” A. Slutz will participate in the National Governors Association (NGA) Centennial meeting in Philadelphia, PA.

Assistant Secretary Karsner will participate in a media availability with NGA Chair Governor Tim Pawlenty and incoming NGA Chair Governor Ed Rendell prior to the meeting. He will make an announcement regarding DOE support for the NGA.

Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Jim Slutz will participate in a panel discussion during the Natural Resources Committee session which will focus on options for a secure and affordable energy future.  Assistant Secretary Slutz is expected to discuss the National Petroleum Council’s “Facing the Hard Truths About Energy” study and highlight the Administration’s efforts to reduce our dependence on foreign sources of oil.
